My best friend is from Tamil Nadu and she used to celebrate Pongal in a big way. I used top go to her place during this time but I never knew so much about this festival. this article made me realize the importance of celebrating Pongal.

the taste of food doubles when eaten from a banana leaf. Though I stay in Mumbai, still I make sure to serve pongal on banana leaf. I personally make Sakkarai pongal.

I make Pongal with vegetables that are available at that time. Pongal with cumin, pepper and ghee tastes yummy. Best way to serve hot Pongal is on a clean banana leaf.
